According to the Pakistan Army Public Relations Department (ISPR), the security forces of Dera Ismail Khan's former Tehsil tank carried out an operation against terrorists by a whistleblower, killing Khwaja Din alias Sher Khan, a banned terrorist commander from TTP. A large quantity of weapons and ammunition was also recovered and confiscated.

According to ISPR, the 27-year-old FC Iskander captain was killed in a shootout during the operation. The martyred captain belonged to Pakpattan.
