Explosion in Ghana leaves 17 dead and 59 injured

A bomb blast near the northern Ghanaian city killed at least 17 people and injured 59 others. According to the Foreign News Agency, in Bogoso, Ghana, a collision between a motorcycle and a truck occurred, after which which an explosion occurred. The truck was loaded with explosives, which were transported for mining.

The explosion caused a hole several feet deep in the ground and several surrounding buildings collapsed. Due to the densely populated area, the explosion caused a lot of damage. Clouds of smoke and ash engulfed the area after the explosion.

Authorities said rescue operations had ended but many of the injured were in critical condition and the death toll was expected to rise.
