RBF officials also revealed their involvement in a bogus tax refund scandal.

Four senior officials from the Federal Revenue Board (FBR) Interior Trade Union Service have been revealed to be involved in a bogus multi-million dollar tax refund scandal.
According to a statement issued by the Federal Tax Ombudsman, based on an investigation by the Federal Tax Ombudsman through the opinion of Sumoto, Chaudhry Muhammad Tariq, FBR Inlander Union grade 21 officer and Chief Commissioner of the Office of Lahore Corporate Tax, who was then Additional Commissioner of RI. Syed Nadeem Hussain Rizvi, an anonymous member of the Level 21 Education Authority who was then the Chief Commissioner CRTO Lahore and Commissioner CRTO Lahore, Level 21 Officer Dr. Sarmad Qureshi and the Deputy Commissioner for International Relations Ashfaq Ahmed Charan. The agents were found to be involved in false tax refunds totaling Rs 123.33 million.
According to the investigation, MM. China National Electric Wire and Cable Import and Export Corporation, a company registered as an association of persons, applied for an income tax refund of Rs 261.19 crore in 2012. Tax refund applications should have been unacceptable.
The post-audit report found that the company had filed tax refund claims in 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2011 worth Rs 267.78 million.
The Federal Tax Ombudsman ordered the FBR to immediately remove these officers from their current positions and take criminal and disciplinary action against them.
