Explosion in Kohat leaves four dead

An explosive device detonated in Kohat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, killing four people.

Four people were killed when an explosive device detonated in the Glo Tangi neighborhood of Kohat. The dead belonged to a nomadic family.

According to the police, the incident took place inside a shack in Glutangi. A child was also injured in the blast and was rushed to hospital for immediate medical attention.

According to police, the explosion initially appeared to have been caused by a mortar shell.

Sources said members of the Gypsy family had picked up a mortar shell found on the road that exploded.

Police officials said a bomb disposal team had been called to the scene and a further investigation into the incident was underway.

Taking note of the incident, Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan ordered the police to file an investigation report.
